I took a couple of 2-up trips on my old '87 Savage and it performed adequately. We were both heavier than you and your wife but the Suzi performed well. You have to be careful on corners and braking on down hill roads but it's not too bad. The handling on any bike is affected by extra weight and the lighter the bike, the larger the effect.
